At Meridian, we put a lot of emphasis on creating treatment plans that are uniquely designed to fit your individuality. Our formulas reflect this principle — hand-written each week for your specific pattern, not a generic diagnosis.

With over 200 medicinals, Meridian is one of the largest resources for natural, healing remedies that Louisville has to offer. We carry the highest quality raw Chinese herbs available today. Rather than stocking bottles of pre-prepared formulas, we work with raw herbs — offering far greater potency and the ability to tailor every formula to your specific symptoms and constitution.

Why take herbs?

Raw herb formulas are living prescriptions — adjusted week by week as your condition changes. Adding herbal medicine to your treatment plan significantly extends the effect of each session, and for some conditions — particularly those involving deficiencies of Qi, Blood, Yin, or Yang — herbs may be the primary therapy.

Raw herbs are taken as a tea — an herbal decoction — cooked at home or prepared here at the clinic. Herbal consultations are available to those not currently receiving acupuncture.

Step 01

Diagnosis

Your practitioner assesses your pattern through pulse and tongue diagnosis, health history, and symptom review. The formula is built around your specific imbalance — not your diagnosis label.

Step 02

Formula

A custom formula is hand-written from our dispensary of over 200 raw medicinals. Herbs are weighed and combined in proportions calibrated to your pattern, and updated weekly as you improve.

Step 03

Preparation

Your herbs are cooked in a high-quality porcelain cooker — at the clinic or at home. We offer a cooking and canning service for $5 + herbs: six sealed glass jars, one taken each day.

The Dispensary

Our in-house dispensary is one of the largest collections of raw Chinese medicinals in Louisville. Every herb is sourced for quality and potency — we do not carry pre-packaged formulas.
